## Overview

The waitlist is typically used to store a list of customers who have shown interest in a particular product that is not currently available to purchase (for example, if the product is out of stock, not currently available for purchase in their country etc.). However, it can also be used by sales associates to curate a list of high-value customers for whom they wish to contact about an upcoming product launch as a way to encourage them to come in-store.

## Managing the waitlist

Whilst sales associates can [add / remove customers from a waitlist](https://redantdigital.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/RET/pages/345899136/Product+Details#Add-to-Wishlist) via the associated product details page, we also have a dedicated app which gives you a single view of all products that have an associated waitlist and how many customers are on the waitlist.

> ℹ️ The product waitlist is store specific. I.e. the list of products with waitlists is based on the contributions of the sales associates working within the store you’re logged into.

## Messaging from the waitlist

When viewing a product waitlist, sales associates can select to initiate a message to the customer, which will automatically pre-select an appropriate communication template and attach the product to the message, helping streamline the outreach process.

> ⚠️ WhatsApp templates do not support attachments, therefore it is recommended to tailor the message accordingly when first reaching out to the customer, so that a follow-up can be sent once the customer has replied with the details of the product.

> 📝 As an optional add-on, the Product Waitlist app can support sending messages to more than one customer simultaneously, to help save time for the store associate when needing to send the same update to several customers.
